Dreamshop
An immersive post-cabaret theatre performance devised on the theme of 'dreams' and performed by an ensemble of 8 actors and dancers in bar theatres and music venues in Athens in 2010. Performed at Indigo Bar, Vassilis' Baraki, Terranova, Stavlos and the 1st Bar Theatre Festival in Athens.
This show drew on material from popular stories and songs from Brecht, Marinos and the 'cursed poets/saints of Exarchia Square' in Athens to create a theatrical experience where audiences would interact with performers who drank, smoked and 'harassed' them across tables, toilets and on the streets outside. The goal was to create a fluid form of interaction that would fuel the main part of the performance, the cabaret number, which were mixing political demonstration with a seance to call back the dead martyr's of Exarchia square (the anarchist area of Athens). The mixture resulted in an emotional and cynical look at the concept of dreams within pop culture and capitalism.
