IMMINENT TERRESTRIAL
SALVATION
by Tim Crouch
Space Phiat, Athens
A cult counts down to the end of the world, waiting for the black hole that will transport them to the promised land. A mother returns to take her daughter, but she no longer remembers her. All she knows are teachings from the Father-Leader through a Book that predicts and determines her every action and word.
Consent. Obedience. Manipulation. Can we recognize the differences?
Viewers are guided through a special illustrated book into a contemporary tragedy with shades of science fiction. A work inspired by the notorious cults of the 20th century that examines the human attraction to totalitarianism but also our deep need for connection and collectivity. A need that is often exploited by a family, a religion or even a government. In an era when the danger of authoritarianism threatens most democracies on the planet, it is necessary to question our role within the power structures that we serve daily.
